Theodore Roosevelt served the United States as the 26th President from September 14, 1901 to March 4, 1909. He was born on October 27, 1858 in New York City, New York, USA.

Biography and Career:

Theodore Roosevelt also worked as 25th Vice President of the United States, 33rd Governor of New York, Assistant Secretary of the Navy and President of the board of New York City Police Commissioners. He is one of the United States Presidents that got the Nobel Prize for Peace and also the Medal of Honor. He is well known for his energetic persona, his range of interests and achievements and also his leadership of the Progressive Movement. His model of masculinity and his cowboy image makes him more prominent to be a President. He was a leader of the Republican Party and founder of the short-lived Progressive "Bull Moose" Party of 1912.

During his Presidency period from 1901 to 1909 are following. Roosevelt dealt with union workers also. In May 1902, United Mine Workers went on strike to get higher pay wages and shorter work days. He set up a fact-finding commission which stopped the strike. It resulted in the workers getting more pay for fewer hours. He issued the Monroe Doctrine, which allows the United States to exercise international policy power. Roosevelt helped the well-being of people by passing laws such as The Meat Inspection Act of 1906 and The Pure Food and Drug Act. The Meat Inspection Act of 1906 banned misleading labels and preservatives that contained harmful chemicals in them. He won the Nobel Peace Prize for mediating the Russo-Japanese War, reached a Gentleman's Agreement on immigration with Japan, and sent the Great White Fleet on a goodwill tour of the world.

After the end of his Presidency in 1909 Roosevelt went on an African safari and works a lot for this.
