About Marcus Dupree Marcus L. Dupree, was born 22 May, 1964 in Philadelphia, Mississippi, USA. He is a former American Football player.

Marcus graduated with the first class that was desegregated for the entire 12 years he went to school. He then went on to play at Oklahoma, where he was named Football News Freshman of the Year, second team All-American and Big Eight Conference Newcomer of the Year, before leaving in the middle of his sophomore season and briefly attending the University of Southern Mississippi without playing a single game there. He joined the United States Football League the following season and signed with the New Orleans Breakers in 1984.

Dupree scored a touchdown on his first professional possession, that wa s in USFL. Throughout the year, he was often injured and Buford Jordan was the starting tailback most of that season. Dupree sustained a blow to his upper body, and then on to his knee. This very severe injury ended his USFL experience. In Portland he had surgery and recuperated, soon after, celebrating his 21 birthday with friends and teammates.

Regarding NFL, Walter Payton met Dupree on some business ventures and proposed him to get back into shape and try out for the NFL again in 1990. Dupree agreed, in October 1990 he signed with the Los Angeles Rams, who had drafted him in 1986 in case he became healthy again, after a 5 and a half year absence from the football field. Dupree was placed on injured reserve, meaning he would have to sit out for four weeks before he could play for his team.

Marcus finished his career with 251 yards on 68 carries during regular season play, with a single touchdown.

After the Rams released him from his contract, he performed as a professional wrestler for the USWA in 1995, then ran a sports bar and worked as a casino greeter.
