Maybe each of us was preoccupied by the following questions: “Why can’t all my students have the same progress in education?”, “How can I help my students who seem to have difficulties in acquiring education?”

The children who cannot cope with the educational demands or those who prove various forms and levels of scholar failure are still too little known, accepted and approached by the Romanian educational systems. There are many cases in which this kind of students could progress easier in a normal classroom if we, the teachers could be able to accept that education is for everyone. Rejecting this kind of students from education is a primitive reaction due to the intolerance towards the human diversity.

The human differences are normal and learning should and must be adapted to the child’s necessities. The schools centered on children are fields of instruction for a society centered on people, which can respect both the differences and the dignity of the human beings. A successful education needs a good cooperation with the families, the school and last but not least with the volunteer organizations.
In Romania, special education had for a long time a disparate form. The way the children’s deficiencies was tackled was prevalently medical, this leading to perceptions, stereotypes, and prejudices at the teachers’ level and the public level in general.

But in the last years the necessity to integrate the children with disabilities in the normal educational system became more and more obvious. But how can we find the best ways to do this? And what are the chances to succeed? There are a lot of things which must be chanced in our educational system if we are to succeed: creating an educational network favorable to the integration and inclusion of the children with special needs, assuring a flexible character of the school curriculum, collaboration with the parents, supporting the organizations which develop ideas and projects in this field.
