He had invited all of his friends at the party and he was worried about not being able to make it there in time? What could have happened to the elevator? He knew something was wrong as it had stopped right between the floors and it didn't want either to get up or to go down so as he could open the door and get out.
He was working for a long time in that company and this was the fist incident of this kind. Every time there had been similar problems with the elevator the technician in charge used to take care of it in no time. But now where was he? The next day he would talk to the manager and explain him this kind of problems gave the company a "bad" image and he should take some measures in this regard.
He didn't have other option but to sit on the floor and
wait and look over some papers. He considered himself lucky they hadn't cut off the power as it was normal to be done as to avoid other accidents. He wanted to call his friends and let them know he couldn't arrive at his own party. Sad but true. What would they think of him? Still it wasn't his fault that the elevator had had a "bad" day and needed a break. He had no signal so he couldn't talk on the phone.
In the morning, his girl-friend had warned him he would have a bad day as she had read on his horoscope. They said he would stress himself all throughout the day: in the morning the boss, in the afternoon the bank, the business meetings and now this. From this day on he decided he would always take up his girlfriend’s advice and pay more attention to the newspaper or the news in the morning.
While he was so deeply involved in sorting out the problem of astrologists and how they can predict the future, when he heard a noise and someone trying to open the door. He stood up and waited. In two minutes the elevator was working. When he opened the door he had the surprise of his life: all of his friends, gathered in the hall, all of them shouting: "Surprise!"
His girlfriend wanted him to have not such a bad day and called his friends waiting at home just to make him smile. And she really succeeded it. After all, you make your own horoscope.
