We were the best friends for more than fourteen years. We have always chosen the same way in our lives because we have had the same aims in life. We learnt the alphabet together, then how to read, to calculate and the first words in English. We spent weekends together and we had the same group of friends. Anyway, I have to admit that we were a little bit different. Her personality was much stronger than mine and that is why she knew how to impose her point of view among our friends.
Even if we had never discussed about something, the moments when I wished to contradict her were numerous. But I always tried to avoid this because I was scared to upset her as she was my best friend. I accepted her just as she was because we had many things in common and she was the on
e who knew everything about me. She used to be very selfish and to be angry about unimportant things. That is why I tried to avoid certain discussions and I also tried to understand her point of view.
But one day all this changed. It was four years ago and we stopped talking for almost one year. It all started the moment I began to feel that our friendship was different and that we did not spend the same time together. I felt she was doing things without asking me, too. She began to have another friend and they started talking on the phone daily, made plans and I was the last to find out about that. I considered that I was a little kept apart and I did not like that. And my reaction was to stop being friends with her, even if I felt very bad. Being a very proud person, she did not come to ask me what had happened, because it was obvious that I was angry with her.
But I did not go to talk to her either, even if all my friends knew what the problem was and they advised me to tell her what I believed. But I did not want to do anything. That moment I considered she was not a good friend as long as she acted like that. I thought that it would be difficult to meet her but not speak to her, but I needed a change. It was not good for me to have as my best friend a person like her, because I had to impose my point of view in life, too, without feeling that the persons around me were be angry, even if I would be right.
That event has changed my attitude and now I have a stronger personality. I even have a best friend, with whom I have much more in common. And I started talking with my ex-best friend, too, but we are different in our relations because she has changed, too and she has accepted her mistakes regarding her behaviour towards me.
