Arma II is a military-combat game that takes place on the fictitious land of Chernarus. This land of Chernarus is located somewhere in Eastern Europe and is actually based on a real local topography. This area has around 80 square miles of countryside, farms, forests, local vegetation and animals, towns, local factions, wide areas (ideal for sniping) and tight areas where you can be killed by a single bullet.
Arma II can be played from 2 perspectives: first person shooter or third person shooter and controls can be a bit weird especially when you are assuming the command of your troops and you have to give those orders with pre-designed command lines. Arma II is not a game where you can run and shoot everything in your sight. If you do that, you will most likely die. In Arma II the player
must scout each area extremely well before proceeding; you need iron patience and most of the time to advance trough the game you will have to shoot only one bullet. From this point, the bugs begin.
Arma II is an extremely bugged and frustrating game. These bugs will reveal themselves to you in many forms during the entire campaign. Sometimes, events that have to be activated in order to complete a mission will refuse to do that and you will find yourself wondering on the map without any precise purpose. Normal enemy soldiers can run in the middle of your highly trained commando and start to kill everyone without any problems while your troop will be "frozen" on the ground. There are several available patches for downloading and I highly recommend them but at this moment there is nothing that can make this game flawless.
However, Arma II comes with a pretty decent graphic and some complex landscapes. The enemy soldiers aren't stupid but no too smart either; during the combat they will try some military tactics (flanking, taking advantage of the higher ground and so on).
As the game progresses, you will have to make some decisions that will affect your future progress. Some interesting plots and twists can make this game worth playing even with all its bugs.
As one last point, as any military-combat game, Arma II comes with a rich arsenal from witch players can choose: heavy machine guns, tanks, pistols, snipers and even neutral vehicles that you can control.
