"Avril" the name speaks for itself. Avril Lavigne is considered the queen of rock and punk music. One of the most sought after singers in music industries. An ideal for many youngsters, her dressing style has reintroduced punk and hip hop apparels.

Avril Romana Lavigne, a Canadian singer was born on September 24, 1984. She is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, fashion designer and an occasional actress. She plays a wide assortment of instruments like electric guitar, acoustic guitar, piano, drums.

Early Years:

Avril was born to Jean-Claude Lavigne and Judy Loshaw in Bellevile, Ontorio in Canada. She has an older brother Matthew and younger sister Michelle. She is grade 11 school dropout. Her talent was discovered by her mother when Avril started singing in church choirs at the age of 2. In 1998, she won a competition in which she sang besides Shania Twain on her 1st major concert tour in Ottawa. The song was "What made you say that". Avril used to sing "Country" covers in a Chapter's bookstore at Kingston where her 1st manager Cliff Fabri discovered her. In 1999, Avril was called by local folk singer Steve Medd, to contribute vocals to his song "Touch the Sky" of album "Quinte Spirit". In 2000, she sang two more songs for his new album "My Window To you".


Her debut album was "Let Go" released on June 2, 2004. In United State it was ranked number 2. This album broke many records in United Kingdom, Australia and Canada. The album sold 16 million copies worldwide. The album hit songs were "Complicated", "Skater Boy" and "I'm with you".

Avril's second studio album "Under My Skin" was released on May 25th, 2004. It sold more than 10 million copies. It included hits like "Don't Tell Me", "My Happy Ending" and "Fall to Pieces".

Avril's third album "The Best Damn Thing" was released on April 17th, 2007. It featured hits like "Girlfriend" and "When You're Gone".
Her fourth album is out in 2010, "Alice in Wonderland".

Other activities:

Avril has launched her own clothing line "Abbey Dawn" and her fragrance by the name "Black Star". She is also involved in number of charitable institutions.

Personnel Life:

Avril was married to Deryk Whibley, a fellow Canadian singer on June 15th, 2006. However Avril filed for divorce on October 9th, 2009.
