Born on April 28, 1972, Carmen Electra was not her real name. It was Tara Leigh Patrick.

She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. She chose to replace her birth name because in 1991 she met Prince who told her she looked like a Carmen. She last named herself Electra after a Goddess.

Carmen attended the School for Creative and Performing Arts at the tender age of nine. She took singing lessons and practiced her vocals.

In 1992, she auditioned for Prince and she was signed for his Paisley Park Records Label. Her first album “Go-Go Dancer” was released in 1992, but it wasn't a success.

Carmen's second album got delayed on the basis that it needed more tracks and remixing. Warner Bros. executive Benny Medina had doubts about Carmen's talent, yet, Prince allowed the album to be relea sed, only to witness Carmen's career go down the drain.

Carmen Electra disappeared from the spotlight for almost two years. Till she appeared on the Nickelodeon show “All That” in 1995.

Carmen's career was on the line, so she adopted a way that made her an ‘in demand' hot property. She apparently got a boob job and started shedding her clothes. In 1996, Carmen posed naked for Playboy. She also performed a video for Playboy, “Playboy Cheerleaders”. In the same year she co-hosted MTV's Loveline.

Carmen's career was about to shoot up when she was announced to co-host MTV's hit dating show “Singled Out” with Chris Hardwick, for at least 65 episodes.

In January, 1997, the New York Daily reported that Carmen was being considered as replacement for Pamela Lee on Baywatch. In April, Carmen signed five-year deal to replace Pamela's character on Baywatch. In March 1997, Carmen appeared in an animated ad film as singer who's a vampire in a comic book series called Embra.

Carmen's first movie was Good Buger, in which she was offered a small role. In 2000, Carmen appeared in one of the biggest movies on the year, Scary Movie. In 2001, she gave a small appearance in the Academy Award winner, Perfume.

Carmen has always been a favorite of the tabloids for her crazy relationship highs and lows with Dennis Rodman. The two apparently got married in Las Vegas while Rodman was drunk.

Since then she's been a regular in the gossip column for her on and off relationship with the basketball star.
