On 18th November, 1968, Owen Cunningham Wilson was born in Dallas, The star was born to Laura Cunningham Wilson and Robert Andrew Wilson. Wilson has two siblings, older brother Andrew and a younger brother, Luke. His brothers are also involved in filmmaking. His family is Irish American and Roman Catholic.

While in Dallas, Wilson attended The Lamplighter School, and St. Mark's School of Texas. He was expelled when in the tenth grade. Wilson attended his junior and senior years in high school at the New Mexico Military Institute.

He than attended the University of Texas. It was here he met future movie director Wes Anderson. The duo hit it off and their mutual love of movies led them to write a screenplay, Bottle Rocket.

The film was released in 1996 sending Wes and Owen on the path to fame and fortune.

Owen then made appearances in various movies like The Cable Guy (1996), Anaconda (1997) and Armageddon (1998). However, it was his performance in Shanghai Noon (2000) sharing the screen with Jackie Chan that gave the right boost to his career as an actor.

Soon the unconventional looking Wilson became one of the best comedy actors of his generation. Along with being an acclaimed actor, he was also an excellent writer & co-produced various films.

Wilson has carved his niche as an all rounder by contributing either as an actor, director or a script writer in various films. The films include The Royal Tenenbaums, Wedding Crashers, Cars, You, Me & Dupree, As Good As It Gets, Rushmore & others.

He has received various nominations & awards for his films, including an Academy Award nomination. Wilson is also the founding member of Hollywood's comedy "Frat Pack" – a club which counted Vince Vaughn, Will Ferrell & others.

Wilson is famous for being one of Hollywood's busiest lotharios off-screen,. He has been frequently linked up with high profile celebs like Kate Hudson & Sheryl Crow earning him the nickname "The Butterscotch Stallion”.

Wilson’s love life is characterized by a series of breakups & patch ups with Kate Hudson & other affairs. On August 26, 2007, Wilson attempted a suicide by cutting of his left wrist & taking sleeping pills out of depression. The reason was said to be his breakup with Hudson.
