British Grand Prix continues hosting Formula One

Q:   Ask a Question about British Grand Prix continues hosting Formula One
British Grand Prix continues hosting Formula One The responsibility of hosting formula one race is mostly in hand of Britain. It was thought that formula one race will end after 2009 British Grand Prix. But now the sources say that the race will be continued.

The 2009 British Grand Prix was organized at Silverstone, which was supposed to be the last Formula one race. But then according to deal, Silverstone will continue to hold Formula one race as always, for the next 17 years at least.

This deal was struck between the owners of Silverstone and the chief of Formula 1, Bernie Ecclestone. Hence the oldest venue in the Formula One circuit maintained its place in the racing calendar.

Silverstone managing director Richard Phillips said that they always get the deal of five years, during which they were not able to invest in redevelo pment sector. He then added that in the span of 17 years they would be concentrating more on such sector.

British Grand prix is assumed to be the foundation of formula one race. He also told that relationship with Formula One Management has been improving. Earlier the deal was supposed to be better, without any issues between the British Racing Drivers' Club and Bernie Ecclestone.

BRDC president and 1996 Formula One World champion Damon Hill said that it was not easy for them to enter into the agreement of such a magnitude. It was a big responsibility that they had to carry.

The agreement was signed just because BRDC felt that relationship should be continued. They were all set to back the negotiating teams. This deal was ultimately good as it makes Silverstone a biggest motor sport venue.

Silverstone was indeed very lucky to get its place on calendar circuit. Donington Park was awarded to host the British Grand Prix from 2010 onwards, who lost out after they failed to secure the $200 million which was needed for the re-development plans.

Hence for all those who love to watch formula one race will be able to see Silverstone continuing to host the British Grand Prix, for at least next 17 years. It was simply like 'dream come true' for BRDC.
