The fourth sign of the Zodiac, Cancer is depicted as the Crab and its date range is June 22nd to July 22nd, and is ruled by the moon. The star stone of Cancer is the beautiful pearl and their colors gray and / or green. It is the first of the water signs and the Cancerian’s nature is both sensitive and strong, an imaginative mind, and a nurturing attitude toward loved ones. Related to a minor chapter in Greek Mythology relating to Heracles Twelve Labors, and in particular his second labor. Heracles was sent to battle Hydra – the nine headed serpent monster, however a giant crab, sent by Goddess Hera, held Heracles’ toe – the goddess had sent Heracles to perform the twelve labors hoping he wouldn’t survive. Heracles nearly lost the battle to Hydra, but crushed the crab and then defeated Hydra. Goddess Hera placed the image of the crab in the night sky as a tribute to the crab’s loyalty and courage.
Cancer governs the chest, breasts, elbows, stomach, and female reproductive organs, therefore ailments and diseases of these areas need to be kept in check. Cancer is a natural ruler of the fourth house, known as the house of Family and Home.
Positive traits of Cancer include intuitive, imaginative, loving, kind and sympathetic. While the negative traits include untidy, over-emotional, moody, touchy and self-pitying. Likes of the Cancerian include hobbies, romance, parties and children; whilst disliking being told what to do, failure and opposition.

Ten years ago my grandson passed away from cancer. He was only 2 years old. During the time he was being treated their was a web site called cancer directory and a lot of patients, parents, and family would talk and post each other when we needed a friend. I sure miss that web site because after 10 years it still hurts just as much as it did when he was diagnosed. Mary |
