A few years ago, we could see a trailer of Dark Sector. At that time, the game looked more like a sci-fi stealth action game with its action set in somewhere in space. Since then, things had changed. During the past years, Dark Sector knew some major changes in game play, story and even from main character point of view. Now, the action takes place among Soviet ruins. Instead of sci-fi technology, the protagonist relies on a mysterious parasite that can give him extraordinary powers during battles. The story behind Dark Sector may look interesting but soon you will become bored of it. Too many cut scenes will destroy every mystery behind Hayden's (main character) condition. Dark Sector is basically a 3rd person shooter with some elements (almost unnoticeable) that will change the basic gam
The game begins with a black and white tutorial from where player can learn all the basic controls (sprint, jump, roll etc). Once infected, Hayden can use certain weapons but only for a limited time (some strange "detection" feature). As the player progress through game, he will find a little opportunity for stealth. So if you are a fan of games like Splinter Cell, don't expect anything similar here. To be honest, is not necessary to use any "stealth" options in order to complete Dark Sector. Hayden can use a large variety of weapons but the most important weapon is his glaive. This glaive can also be used as a flash light by letting the electrical power to accumulate in it. During the game, the player can upgrade his weapons for better fire rate, more accuracy or higher damage. Still, best upgrades can't be purchased with money.
Dark Sector comes with quite a long single player campaign. However after first hours of game play, it tends to become extremely repetitive. Maybe one of the worst things is the AI level. Enemies are failing badly in some simple situations like taking cover from heavy fire. Rarely will you see an enemy soldier doing something intelligent.
The graphic from Dark Sector is good. It reminds us of Resident Evil from many points. The cinamatics are well made with some interesting effects. Overall, I can say that the graphical section is the best section of Dark Sector.
