There is no question about the fact that certain criminals really should not have the right to live anymore. The people convicted to a capital punishment are the authors of incredible massacres and must suffer the consequences for their actions.
In most of the places in the world that practice capital punishment nowadays, the death penalty is being given as a punishment for premeditated murder, treason or espionage. It can also be reserved as part of military justice. There are several countries with a Muslim majority, where the sexual crimes, including adultery, may attract the death penalty. Not to speak about the religious crimes such as renunciation of the Islamic religion! Drug trafficking can also be a capital offense.

sue. The people who agree with the capital punishment argue that it prevents recidivism and crime. They state that it is the best possible punishment for the crime of murder. Those people who are against the capital punishment argue that it does not do anymore good than life imprisonment.
The truth of the matter is that the death penalty violates human rights. The worst scenarios may lead to executions of people who have been wrongfully convicted.
Support for the death penalty enormously varies across the world. Nevertheless, in the countries on both sides, this punishment enjoys a wide public support and receives little attention by politicians or the media.
The abolitionist countries are those ones where the majority of the public supports the death penalty. There, the abolition of this punishment has only been adopted due to a major political change or as an entry condition for the European Union. Besides these situations, the death penalty can rarely be abolished because of the public discussion!
As you can all see, the human rights are not enough reasons for abolishing the death penalty. Maybe in a few years this penalty will no longer be used intensively in so many countries across the world. The governments are the only ones having the power of abolishing such a penalty. We can only hope for the better!
