I have recently met my cousin who lives in the countryside and who is in the seventh grade. We talked about various subjects, and one of them was school. I asked her which were her plans for the future in what concerned education and if she was contented with the educational system in her school.
I could notice she was a little put into difficulty because of my questions. She had never thought about her plans and what she would like to study in the future or if she was satisfied with the system her teachers adopt. She said that the majority of her teachers were superficial and they used to give the pupils less theory and a lot of homework. She explained that there were many times when she did not know how to solve the exercises because the teacher did not explaine
d them. For example, in mathematics the teacher asks them to solve difficult exercises without even making an example of a certain method for the pupils to be able to do their homework.
Then, I could notice that her level in English was a low one, even if she is studying it for a couple of years. She was not able to read the cardinal numbers until one-hundred correctly. And I was surprised to see that. She told me that all her classmates are in the same condition, because their teacher comes at classes but speaks about something else and does not concentrate on reading the textbook and making the exercises there. I tried to help her learn the numbers and their correct pronunciation, as she needed them for her classes in informatics.
I also heard her mother complaining that in Physics she was a disaster and that the teacher did not explain them anything. She was very worried because she did not know if her daughter were able to pass her final exams and go to a good high-school.
To conclude, we can underline the idea that in the countryside there are teachers who do not give their interest in teaching pupils, and that there are cases when children want to learn more, have good marks and try to go to high-school.
