When being a little child, Andrew had a serious bad habit, that of sucking his big finger all day long, especially when he had nothing interesting to do: when he was sleeping, when watching television, when sitting on the sofa and so on. At the beginning, his parents were not too preoccupied as they said he has little and the majority of babies have a bad habit which they quit afterwards. But this was not Andrew's case, too.
Therefore, with the passing of time, the boy could not give up his tic. His parents began to take measures, and put on his fingers different substances of horrible taste just to make him stop sucking his finger. And they finally managed to convince him give up that bad habit.
However, now, in his twenties, Andrew seems to have acquired anot
her bad habit: he bites his nails frequently. Therefore, no matter if he is at home with his parents or at the university during courses, Andrew cannot stop biting his nails. Even if he says he doesn't want to do it, he admits it is a bad tic which sometimes annoys him, too. It is like being a smoker or an alcohol consumer, who cannot give up his vice.
The most annoying situation is when he is among important persons, and he starts biting his nails. There are moments when he even doesn't realize that he is doing it again. Some of his friends warn him about his bad habit, and he stops for a while, but then, if he isn't busy doing something and having his hands occupied, he starts biting his nails again. I can imagine his face, biting his nails in the club, because when he stops dancing and is following with his looking the persons around him or when he drinks something, it is impossible not to bite his nails for a couple of seconds. For the ones around him this cannot appear as a bad habit, but we, who know his problem, see the things differently.
To conclude, I can say that bad habits are very annoying especially when the persons, who have such habit, are in public and cannot retain themselves doing it. Still, there must be measures to give up these bad habits and these people should try to do their best to stop doing them.
