Education for everyone can be a good means of improving education in general by reconsidering the support given to certain children. The manner in which a series of development and learing partucularities determins dividing children in determined categories tends to be replaced by a non categorial manner, which considers that any child is a person who can learn in a certain pace and style and so he/she may need a special support.
Education for everyone has been defined (Salamanca, 1994) as access to education and its quality for all children. Two general objectives have been identified:
1. The insurance of possibilies for participation at education for all
children, no matter how different they are and how they deviate through their personal way of development from what society defi
nes normal.
2. Quality of education refers to finding those dimensions of the
process, learning contents and quality of educational agents who can support learning for everyone, insure the success, make the system open, flexible, efficinet and effective.
Education for everyone is a necessity for the politics as well as for
the educational practices.
To be able to address all the children and to become open, flexible,
adapted and orientated towards each and for all, education must suppose in practice an optical change. We are talking about a new orientation which emphasizes co – operation, partnership, social learning and turning to good account the positive, human relationships in education.
This orientation aims at changes in the following elements:
1. Education – Education in general refering to principles, process,
product and beneficiaries.
2. School – School education refering to general approach,
strategiesa and time of the proposed programs.
3. Society – The necessary connections between the forms of
education and its agents which means first of all the need for social partnership (family, community, society) for fulfilling the tasks of modern education.
4. Individual – Emphasizing the value of each person, the positive,
human approach of relationships and the role of each participant to the education process.
