Eminem's Career in Acting

Q:   Ask a Question about Eminem's Career in Acting
Besides getting a name in Rapping, Eminem has also worked as an actor. He has done few cameo appearances and few voice acting roles during his career.

In 2001, he had a brief cameo in “The Wash” and in 2002; he made an official debut in semi-autobiographical “8 Mile”. He has said the movie is not an account of his life, but a representation of growing up in Detroit. He recorded several new songs for the soundtrack, including “Lose Yourself”, which won an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2003.

However, the song was not performed by Eminem in the ceremony because of his absence. Luis Resto, his collaborator accepted the award on behalf of Eminem.

“8 Mile” has also reserved many other awards such as “Teen Choic e Award”, “Golden Globe for Best Original Song from a Motion Picture”, “Grammy for best song written for motion picture, television or other visual media”.
He has also worked in various voice acting roles.

In “50 Cent: Bulletproof” video game, he has given the voice of an aging corrupt police officer who speaks in Ebonics. Besides this he has given few more voices as: guest spots on the Comedy Central television show “Crank Yankers”, a web cartoon called “The Slim Shady Show”.

He was also in the running for the part of David Rice in 2008's film “Jumper”. Concerns over not having a more prominent actor prompted the director, Doug Liman, to consider other actors for the role and hence, Hayden Christensen was selected in place of Eminem.

In 2003, he did “50 Cent: The New Bread”. Recently in the movie “Funny People”, released in 2009, he had done a cameo appearance. In 2009, he also did “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony”.

It was reported on November 8, 2009 that Eminem will star in the upcoming 3D horror collection, “Shady Talez”, directed by John Davis and that too in main role. A four-issue comic book series based on the film is also expected to be published sometime in 2010. Besides this he will also be starring in “The Fighter” in 2010.
