Lady Diana, for the first time met Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales at the age of about 16 years. At that time, Charles was dating her eldest sister – Lady Sarah.

He knew her wife to be for years but he took serious interest in her during the polo match in the summer of 1980, when both of them were guests of the country weekend. The relationship continued for a couple of months when Prince Charles finally proposed to The Princess to be; for marriage on February 6th 1981.

The engagement of the couple had been kept secret for the next few days. They finally got engaged to each other on February 24th, 1981. At the age of 20, Lady Diana finally and officially became The Princess of Wales on July 26th, 1981 when the two got married.

The wedding took place at St. Paul’s Cathedral. It indeed was a royal wedding and was precisely termed as the “fairytale wedding”, watched by a television audience of over 750 million all across the globe.

It was the month of June, 1982 when Princess Diana and Prince Charles were blessed with their first son and heir – William. Two years later, in September 1984, they were blessed with their second son – Henry. Princess Diana was universally known as a dutiful and epitomized mother.

The relationship of the couple went on well for few years but, the downfall began soon. And by the time it was 1990, the Media had officially sensationalized the news of their Divorce.

Lady Diana moved back to her apartment in Kensington Palace, in 1996. She lost her Her Royal Highness title but was still honored as “Princess Diana”. She received a lump sum recompense amount, which was refused to be disclosed due to the Royal Crown policies.

The lady was involved in a number of controversies since then and had been linked with Hasnat Khan, from Pakistan and Dodi Al-Fayed. It was almost a year after her separation with Charles that we witnessed her sudden, sad and miserable demise on August 31st, 1997 in a car crash. But she still is Diana, The Princess of Wales.
