He is the new "boom" in the art of cinema-making. The favorite of great directors like Almodovar or Innaritu, he was glamorous in productions like "Habla con Ella" (Talk to Her) and "Amores Perros" (Love Dog). You can see him in "Babel" next to Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchet.

Characters who seem to be lacking any logical connection, life stories which trouble you, broken hearts, who eventually come together in a strange and unique way: all these are the characteristics of the films directed by the Mexican Alejandro Gonzales Innaritu. "Babel" is the last part of the trilogy begun in 2001 with "Amore Perros" and continued in 2004 with "21 Grams". Three stories shot in four countries: Morocco, Japan, Mexico, Tunisia make of "Babel" the best film of 2006 as Quentin Tara ntino said in his latest interview. Gael Garcia Bernal is the only actor who performed in two of the three films. After playing Octavio in "Amores Perros" the role of Santiago in "Babel" highlighted his qualities of an authentic actor. "Gael is a revelation. A very talented boy", said Brad Pitt about him and Cate Blanchet claims he is "sweeter than chocolate".

"Acting means more hard-work than talent" said Garcia in one of his interviews. This makes us understand why, at the age of 19, after a successful soap-opera and after becoming the symbol of the new generation, he decided to go to London and study acting. He is accepted at the famous "Central School of Speech and Drama". He was the first Mexican who convinced the conservator and severe Englishmen of his talent. After two years he comes back to Mexico to act in "Amores Perros". Gael is turned into a sex-symbol and his fortune grows considerably.

Almodovar said about him that he is "an almost perfect actor, as perfection doesn't exist". On the contrary, he claims to be "a normal person who looks for stability in his life". Tabloids speak about his numberless love stories and all the women who "visited" his bed. Still, he claims to be in lode with Natalie Portman.

Although he is now famous, rich and has a world wide success he is still very funny, with a good sense of humor and at the same time quite shy and modest. He doesn't want to leave Mexico City and he is planning to open an Italian restaurant as he is mad about pizza and lasagna. He loves traveling around South America and he is always eager to sunbathe naked so girls, watch out!
