Research shows that teenagers today are not as healthy as they were twenty years ago. Why? The list of the reasons is quite long and boring, but some of these "bad" aspects of our lives should be mentioned.
First of all teenagers are "addicted" to "junk" food, as their best friends are hamburgers, pizza or spaghetti. Teenagers don't eat what it is best for their physical development and don't want to pay attention to all it's said about food and a healthy way of eating. On the contrary, it's also the case of the girls who keep strict diets so as to lose weight. They get to suffer from bulimia or anorexia just to be skinny as the models they read about in magazines or newspapers.
Secondly, young persons nowadays do not spend much time in the middle of nature,
walking in the park, going camping or barbecuing. In fact, TV, computer games, DVD players or music are much more interesting. Just imagine mother calling her son to lunch and him shouting:"No, no, I'm watching my favourite serial! I'll eat later". He really doesn't care that later he'll eat alone, that he won't have anyone to talk to. In this way communication between the members of the family diminishes to a great extent until it disappears completely.
Thirdly, there is also the case of the "dangers" that make the parents' life a living hell: alchool, drugs, smoking. They are always worried when their children go to a disco or to a party, as they know how easily teenagers are tempted to try something new, just for fun. Trusting them and making them feel responsable for their actions is the solution to prevent future problems from appearing.
To sum up, teenagers ought to take more care of their health as the environment is becoming each day more and more dangerous and if we aren't aware of everything that surrounds us we won't be able to fight them and stay as healthy as possible.
