Now that technology has advanced, it is much easier to communicate with long-distance friends. Things have changed from the time of our grandfathers’ and fathers’, when it was quite difficult to keep in touch with friends or relatives in other towns or countries. They used to write letters, send them and it could take quite a long time for these to arrive at the destination, or they could sometimes be lost.
It is now a great advantage to have phones, faxes or the internet at our disposal because they represent the most rapid way of communication at long-distances. Telephones aren’t so expensive and we can use them easily, sending messages or just making a short call, even if that is abroad.
I have quite a lot of long-distance friends and I like keeping in touch
with them. Therefore, whether they are in another city of my country or in a foreign country I usually talk with them each week. The easiest way to communicate with them is by means of the messenger, both on yahoo or hotmail messenger. Almost everybody has a computer at home and is connected to the internet. It is very comfortable to stay at home, sit on a soft chair and send messages on the messenger to your long-distance friends. Then, if your computer has also a web-cam, then your friends can see you and you can also see them, if they have one, too. Moreover, having a microphone offers you the possibility to hear the voice of a close friend you haven't seen or heard for quite a long time.
Therefore, this is a good means to fell closer friends who are far away. Internet and messenger brings them closer and helps you miss them less than before.
Another means of communicating with my long-distance friends is by sending messages, if they are abroad, and by phoning those in other cities. There are several offers when it comes to mobile phones and one can talk for many minutes at low prices. This makes it easy to speak with friends at long-distances and not only.
All in all, nowadays it is easier to keep in touch with friends who are far away from you, not only by the traditional letters, but also through modern means such as the messenger or phones, which offer the advantage to send and receive information very quickly.
