Lesson Plan : A Liverpool Ghost Story Course: Euroteacher I (Multiple Intelligences)
Title: A Liverpool ghost story
Level: elementary
Time: 50 minutes
Aims: To consolidate grammar: use of past simple/past continuous


Main intelligences focus:
Linguistic/Verbal Intelligence - English language
Logical/Mathematical intelligence - problem solving, doing controlled experiments)
Visual/Spatial intelligence - (reading, writing, manipulating images, interpreting visual images)
Other intelligences:
Intrapersonal - individual work
Interpersonal interaction - (co-operating with groups, communicating both verbally and non-verbally)

Techniques and procedures: pair work, team work, games, discovery techniques, contest
Materials: blackboard, pictures, cards
Interactions: T - Ss, Ss - T, Ss - Ss
Skills: listening, speaking, reading, writing
Assessment: direct observation


Activity 1:
Time: 20 minutes
Step 1
Ss are divided into 4 groups, two of them representing Past Simple group and the other the; Past Continuous one;
T spreads some posters on the teacher of them attaching a card containing a verb and an adverb specific for the past simple tense - to live/always - ;
T also spreads some cards on the opposite corner, cards containing a verb too but this time, an adverb specific for the present continuous tense;
Step 2
Verbal/Linguistic Intelligence
T explains to the Ss what they are going to do and asks each team to give an example of the designated grammar problem.
Step 3
Interpersonal intelligence
Ss are asked to talk to each other within the groups and choose a team leader. They will be given a few cards to fill in with the name of the team/project leader and the team members' names;
Logical/Mathematical intelligence
Intrapersonal intelligence
Each team will designate members to come to the blackboard - one from an opposite team - and compete by forming correct sentences containing either the past simple tense or the past continuous one;
One correct answer gains a point; the winning team will receive a diploma;
Ricky Martin woke up at 12 p.m. and had a cup of coffee
Yes but then he was waking up at 9 a.m. because he left on a tour…
Ss will also have to write on the blackboard some of the sentences to prove they have consolidated a correct spelling;

Activity 2
Time: 15 minutes
Visual and Spatial intelligence
Keeping the same teams T will spread another set of cards on the t's desk ;
Step 2
Logical/Mathematical intelligence
Intrapersonal intelligence
Ss will come one more time in front of the classroom and, with the help of some notes written on the back of the cards, they will express either P. S. or P. C. according to the directions;

Activity 3
Time: 13 minutes
Logical/Mathematical intelligence
T hands out some sheets of paper with grammar exercises - multiple choice/error correction/question forming exercises - and Ss will answer individually;

Activity 4
Time: 2 minutes
Ss will have to describe one day from their favourite celebrity's life.
