cent work: The students have been studying:
- Present Perfect used for giving information
Aim 1: to create interest in the topic of the lesson; to create expectations and involvement in the reading task
- T. asks the Ss. what could the title of the lesson 'It's the highest in the world' refer to
- T. points to the drawing in the book showing a rollercoaster
- T. encourages the Ss to discuss about roller coasters and amusement parks
- T. asks pupils what is the greatest amusement park in their opinion
- T. writes the title of the new lesson on the blackboard and provides the translation for it.
Aim 2: to raise expectations and involvement in the reading task;
Aim 3: to verify the degree of understanding of the text
- T. role-plays the text in the book, page 70
- T. asks Ss to tell any unknown words
- T writes the words on the Bb giving their Romanian equivalents
- T. asks the Ss. to write the new words in their notebooks;
- T. asks the Ss. to solve the true/false exercise from page 70 so as to check the degree of understanding of the text.
Aim 4: to learn and practice present perfect using never and ever
- T asks Ss to remember what is Present Perfect made of (have/has + the past participle of the vb) and when it is used
- T then tells Ss that Present Perfect is also used with never and ever and provides the proper examples e.g. I have never been to London. He has never driven a car. Have you ever been to Paris? Has he ever written a book?
- T asks Ss to write the examples in their notebooks.
- T gives Ss worksheets and asks Ss to solve the exercises using Present Perfect with ever and never.
Activity 3: Interaction: pair work - Timing: 10'
Speaking and Vocabulary
Aim 6: to provide vocabulary related to experiences, to practice the use of present perfect with never and ever
- T puts the Ss into pairs
- T walks around the class and asks each pair of Ss to choose a picture
- T asks Ss to look at page 71 in their books and based on their picture, to use the prompts to ask and talk about their experiences e.g. picture showing a theme park. Possible answer: go to a theme park – Have you ever gone to a theme park?
Homework: T asks Ss to write ten sentences about their own experiences – 2'
