Lesson aims:
- to consolidate Ss' acquisitions concerning Present Simple, Present Continuous;
- to consolidate Ss' vocabulary (food, jobs and transport);
- to encourage Ss to use the language

Assumption:
- the Ss are familiar with Present Simple, Present Continuous, modal can;
- the Ss are familiar with vocabulary items used in the lesson.

Skills: listening, speaking, writing, reading.

Interaction:
- teacher - students T - Ss

- students - teacher Ss – T

Aids: textbook, blackboard, work sheets

Evaluation:
- initial: through warm- up and homework check-up;
- continue: trough activities, observation, error correction;
- final: through oral and writ ten feed-back and homework.

Classroom management:
- a comfortable bright room;
- the class is divided into three groups, each group having a representative student.

Attitude:
- the teacher encourages students moving around the classroom;
- the teacher tries to make Ss act and speak in natural style.

Activity 1:
Warm-up:
Time: 7'
Informal conversation (greetings; how are you? small talk to cheer them up).
T asks the three leaders of the groups to choose one of the six cards she has in her hand. Each card has a task (to count from 1 to 20; to name the days of the week; to name six animals; to name six jobs; to name eight colours; to say what sweets they like.)
T encourages the three groups to compete and prizes the correct answers with a "smiling face"
Response to informal questions.
Each of the three Ss chooses a card and does what it says on the card.
Ss work in groups and give their answers.

Activity 2:
Vocabulary Practice 1:
Time: 5'
T puts up a poster with some images illustrating food and asks Ss to work in groups and complete the empty spaces from the sentences below each image;
T prizes the correct answer with a smiling face
Ss look at images and complete the empty spaces working in groups
Group-working - Speaking

Activity 3:
Vocabulary Practice 2:
Time: 3'
T puts up a poster with some images illustrating jobs and means of transport and asks Ss to name them
Ss name the jobs and the means of transport Individual
Speaking

Activity 4:
Grammar Practice 1:
Time: 5'
T puts up a big sheet of paper with four images on it; T asks Ss to identify the place where each person in the images works;
T asks Ss to remember the way we get from one place to another:
by bus, by car, by taxi, by bike, on foot.
What's his job?
Where does he work?
How does he go to work? Ss work in groups and identify the right places for the jobs in the images and the means of transport;
Ss answer the questions.

Activity 5:
Vocabulary Practice 2:
Time: 5'
T asks Ss to complete the missing word from a few sentences, words referring to jobs and means of transport and then find those words in a table;
T asks Ss to work in groups.
Ss complete the missing words and identify them in the table;
Ss work in groups.
Work-group - Writing

Activity 6:
Vocabulary Practice 4:
Time: 3'
T asks Ss to match each drawing with an action, working individually.
Ss work in groups and identify the pairs (image-action)
Individual - Writing

Activity 7:
Grammar Practice 2:
Time: 10'
T asks the Ss to make pairs of cards which illustrate, some of them, animals doing some actions and other cards on which there are sentences with verbs in the Present Continuous
T asks Ss to work in groups and compete with each other.
T asks Ss to look at the pictures with animals and say what they are doing (without showing them the cards with the sentences on them)
Ss make pairs of cards and read the sentences;
Ss identify the actions and make sentences with the verb in the Present Continuous Group-work - Individual - Speaking

Activity 8:
Grammar Practice 3:
Time: 10'
T asks Ss to do some exercises with modal verb can and some of them with Present Simple; they have to complete the empty spaces with the right word.
Ss work individually and complete the sentences with the correct form of can and verbs in the Present simple, working on some work-sheets.

Activity 9:
Issuing homework:
Time: 2'
T asks Ss to complete the missing words from the exercise 7 at page number 16 from the T's Resource Book (the exercise is on a Xerox copy)
Ss take notes and asks some questions if necessary
