Libra is the seventh sign in the zodiac. Ruled by Venus, Libra is an Air element and one of the Cardinal signs – seen by many as the most civilized of all the twelve signs. The Libran is basically very charming and diplomatic with an idealistic and peace loving nature. The dates for Libra are September 23 to October 23. It is the only inanimate of the star signs, and because of the scales is referred to as the balance – occurring around the time that the days and nights are the same length.

Mythology :

Although not directly related to any specific myth, the Egyptians associated the scales to Anubis, Lord of the Dead. Anubis would weigh the souls of the dead to determine their value based upon what the individuals had done on Earth. Anubis sent worthy souls to the Kingdom of O siris, or what modern day people would term heaven. The scales were a symbol of final judgement. Anubis in turn was associated to Hermes, Conductor of Souls, by the Greek culture.

As a Libran is very intuitive, they are extremely aware of the power of image, thereby exuding charm and elegance. Just as beautiful the Libran flower is the Rose, whilst the gemstones are the sapphire and jade stones. Libra governs the kidney area of the body.

Career wise – Librans make very good lawyers, public office bearers, and administrators. The positive traits in Librans are charming, fair-minded, diplomatic, sophisticated, artistic, sociable and clear thinking; whilst their negative traits include people-pleasing, gullible, passive, indecisive, gossipy, co-dependent.

The compatible signs of Libra are Gemini, Leo, Sagitarrius and Aquarius.
Incompatible signs: Scorpio, Capricorn, Pisces, Taurus, Cancer and Virgo.
Variable signs: Libra and Aries. Aries is the opposite of Libra, and from this the Libran can learn to take the initiative to stand for their beliefs without manipulation.

Libra, being an air element, tends to be more masculine, focusing on spirituality and activity both physically and mentally.
