Life of Leonardo Da Vinci

Q:   Ask a Question about Life of Leonardo Da Vinci
During the period of Renaissance, Leonardo da Vinci was a legendary figure. He is globally regarded as a great artist and scientist.

He loves those who smile in trouble, who can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. It is the business of little minds to shrink, but they whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves their conduct, will pursue their principles unto death. These are the famous lines written by Leonardo Da Vinci.

Leonardo was born in a small town f Vinci in Tuscany near Florence in Italy on 15th April, 1452. He is considered as father of modern science by many people. He began his career by working as an apprentice to Florentine artist Andrea Del Verrochio.

Leon ardo was an architect, musician, engineer, scientist, inventor, sculptor, mathematician, and a botanist. He was a versatile person. He made several sketches and they were first of that kind. He sketched a parachute, helicopter, airplane, tank, repeating rifle, swinging bridge, paddleboat, motorcar and many more. He even planned a movable bridge for the duke of Milan.

Apart from all these things he knew, Leonardo Da Vinci was famous for his painting. Leonardo’s first solo painting was ‘Madonna and Child’ which was completed in 1478. He started to paint the first version of ‘Virgin’ in 1483 and was completed in 1485.

When we talk about the famous painting of Leonardo, it is obviously ‘Mona Lisa’. One of the most unusual hypotheses about this painting is that it is a self portrait of Leonardo as a woman. It took ten long years for him to paint Mona Lisa’s lips.

The way he used lights in his portrait was the famous thing about him. He painted ‘The Last Supper’ at Santa Maria Delle Graize in Milan. The painting is a dramatic description of the moment when Jesus announced that he would be betrayed.

He never married and had no children. He was a man of a high character. He self-drew his painting in 1515. He was one of the greatest thinkers and was able to think well ahead of his time.
