Looking for a Job

Q:   Ask a Question about Looking for a Job
Looking for a Job by Cristina Nuta -

Bill finished university six months ago and he's got a degree in business administration. He enjoyed the course very much although he realized that he should have studied a lot harder. A few of his friends have already got full-times jobs, but most, like him, are still waiting for something suitable to turn up. Meanwhile, he has made sure that he is keeping himself busy. He has looked through the job advertisements in the newspapers every day and he has also asked all the people he knows to tell him if they hear of any vacancies where they work. And he is looking for something challenging and he'd be certainly happy if he moved to another city or even worked abroad for a while.

He considers that the salary is not so important at this stage, provided he earns enoug h to live on, because he doesn't want to continue having to depend on his parents, although they are very generous to him. He is even working in a restaurant two evenings a week, washing up and generally helping out, which brings in a little money. The other people working there are very friendly, and many of them are in the same situation as he is.

Bill's situation is similar to that of the majority of students who graduate a university and have no chance to find a good job, according to the career they have finished. It is a pity to see that such a thing happens in a society which encourages studying but which is not possible to offer youngsters the possibility to find a well-paid job. The result of this, is that young people with studies find a job which is not related to what they have studied, and which is, moreover, bad-paid because they have no other option. Or, they choose to leave their country and search for better opportunities abroad, where they could find at least a better paid job.

Finally, if there aren't any chances to obtain a job, then what's good for to graduate a university? Is there any chance for our people to live better? What's happening with our government and rulers?
