Contrary to what the rich children think that their parents' money grows on trees and they just pick up something whenever they need to go shopping or pay the bills, the cruel reality is totally different. Money doesn't grow on trees and one has to work hard to be able to sustain his or her family. Children who have been used to having it all don’t know much about the persons living in Africa who die of starvation or who feel ashamed because they can't do anything to provide food for their children.
There are contrasts which make us think at how unjust life really is. Why are there so many people who have more than they need and at the same time so many who don't have money to buy a loaf of bread or a bottle of water?
The middle way has always been the solutio
n to every problem. The middle class of any society has been the one which always had to win. You don't have too much nor too little, you don't live in luxury but at the same time your life style is comfortable.
Children should be taught even from an early age that they must appreciate the real value of money and the power it has on our lives. There are objects which are vital in our lives but at the same time a ten year old does not need the latest model of a mobile phone or the most expensive clothes because when he is 20 years old he will make his parents' life a living hell. Spoiled children are the worse examples of an improper education and parents should be very careful about what values they are teaching their children. What are the most important things in life? Money or love, family or friends? What must we treasure What must we treasure more and what should we put on the second plan?
If we manage to find the right answer to these questions then we will be able to teach our children that money doesn't grow on trees.
