Enrique Iglesias, better known as Enrique Iglesias, is a Spanish pop music singer and songwriter.

Iglesias was born in Madrid, Spain on May 8, 1975. His father’s name is Julio Iglesias and his mother’s name is Filipino. His father belongs to Jewish ancestry. His parents got divorced in 1978 and after which Julio moved to Miami, Florida to forward his career in the field of music.

In 1985, Enrique Iglesias’ grandfather, Dr. Julio Iglesias Puga was kidnapped by the terrorist group ETA, for which Enrique and his brother Julio Iglesias Jr. were forced to live with their father in Miami.

Iglesias has also lived in Belgrade, Serbia for one year with his mother. He was raised by the family nanny as his father us ed to be very busy for the purpose of music career. He had schooling at Gulliver Preparatory School and then went on to study business at the University of Miami.

Iglesias and his father both had interest in music but Iglesias never wanted his father to know about his plans for his future in music. He never wanted to proceed in life on the basis of the famous surname of his father. He borrowed few sum of money from his family nanny for recording a demo cassette tape, consisting of a Spanish song and two English songs.

He approached to Fernan Martinez, his father’s former publicist, for the purpose of promoting the songs under the stage name ‘Enrique Martinez’. Iglesias was later signed by a record label called “Fonovisa” and he went to Toronto to record his first album.

Iglesias’s work helped him turn into one of the most popular artists in Latin America, and the biggest seller of Spanish language albums for a number of years.

He even got into the demand in English language market, by signing a multi-album deal with Universal Music for a huge $48,000,000. Universal Music Latino took responsibility to release his Spanish albums and Interscope to release English albums.

In all, Iglesias has sold over 60 million albums worldwide.
