Prague, the golden city

Q:   Ask a Question about Prague, the golden city
Prague, the golden city Many of us would have heard of this heart of Czech Republic. It's the biggest city in the country with a wonderful blend of history and art, modernization and beauty, charm and innocence.

The word 'Prague' means mother of all cities, some people also say it means a city of a hundred spires. But basically in Czech it means a golden city.

History has a long lasting relationship with Prague since past 1100 years, which can be beautifully depicted by the main castle there.

Even the renaissance structures and the cathedrals there project that it was the main center for trade and commerce and am epicenter for religious activities in those days. It was also considered as a capital of Holy Roman Empire.

Talking about monuments Prague has a very big and exquisite castle present on the west of it, which is the royal castle.

The beautiful Saint Vitus Cathedral is also a main landmark of Prague. Apart from them, there is the famous Charles Bridge across the river Vltava which runs through Prague.

That bridge used to divide the city in two parts in older days. But these days it is an excellent evening spot. A lot of people come there on the bridge, besides the river. You see musicians playing, people selling souvenirs and antics, etc. It's a wonderful experience to be there.

The most exciting places of the city are the museums. Even the people who hate museums might not feel the same when they are there once. They are really beautiful worth being there, for museum-lovers; even heaven couldn't get any better.

For people who are foodoholics and love to eat and drink different cuisines, well you're at the right place. In Prague, you'd get excellent restaurants offering finger-licking Spanish, French, Italian, Greek food.

It is a wonderful Mediterranean experience. Also the hotels are wonderful and people are good. Hospitality won't be an issue at all as Prague has always loved tourists.

On the whole it is a superb place to be for short holidays, where you will be able to relax yourself and get a chance to be close to European art. Go there with the one you love and you'll never Prague for sure.
