For the youth of today every city intersection is just another obstacle standing between him and his destiny. Bad driving habits are breeding grounds for results which can be hard to reverse; often one sees him in an ambulance destined towards a hospital.

Collisions at intersections are a major source of road fatalities. If the study done by Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is to be believed about 50 percent of all city driving collisions occur at intersections; reason being the driver failed to yield the right-of-way. The statistics suggests that 900 out of 170,000 injuries are fatal! Moreover the number is rising drastically.

Let's talk about some does and don'ts regarding your driving habits; if yo u are driving left then yield the lane to one at right if the situation demands never show affection towards your lane. Avoid rolling stops. Follow the traffic light and always check for oncoming vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists when the lights change. Never force someone to yield lane such confrontations can spell disaster for both. Use your eyes look for potential problems such as kids, pedestrians, cyclists etc.

Avoid blocking of vision look for lane changes or slow down. Keep your music players, mobile phones at bay when manoeuvring in heavy traffic. Use the outside mirrors to see what is happening at the back. Do not back into busy streets, highways and pedestrian crosswalks. Keep your foot firmly on the brake before shifting into reverse. When backing the car make a habit of taking a Glance over each shoulder out of the windows, be prepared for surprises in the form of kids and pedestrians.

Moreover avoid the popular saying "common sense is very uncommon" and make good use of the general traffic sense acquired over the years and taught by your parent's. Remember rush of blood often leads one to the doom. Driving with patience and maintaining a cool head is much better than driving oneself to the hospital. So keep yourself as cool as a cucumber and enjoy a safe ride!
