We all look for something better in our lives and one of the ways by which we achieve it is by progress. But there things like stereotypes and prejudices who prevent this progress. There are many reticent people who don't want to accept the fact things can change and what seemed indecent or inappropriate in the past is now a normal thing.
When in the 20s the first women started to smoke in public they were denigrated and considered as having no education. That is why the first consequence was the prohibition of smoking in public places, but only for women. Men had the right to smoke in public. It was more than obvious that men and women were not considered equal and that men had more rights than women. No matter what they used to do nobody dared to tell them anyt
hing.
When the feminist movement started to fight for the recognition of the equality among persons all men had something to say against. It is quite hard to admit we are all alike and no one has more rights than the others. Women have always had something to say and nobody took into consideration their opinion. It is the same with the idea that all blondes are stupid or a beautiful woman can't be intelligent at the same time. On the contrary, there are so many women who meet all these qualities and nobody notices them.
We all think that men love football and beer and women can't live without going shopping. Partly it is true but is not a general rule and we should not judge people for what we think they might be. Appearances may be deceiving and we should not allow stereotypes and prejudices influence our way of thinking and of behaving with the persons around us.
We first have to get to know a person and then draw the conclusions related to him or her. Even if at the beginning she may seem quite shy or introvert after some time spent together you may be surprised at how well you have come to get along. Be patient and don't let others tell you what to think.
