When the television was not so spread as it is today, and when computers and the Internet had not appeared in the lives of the teenagers, we used to spend much more time reading. Literature and books were our best friends, and one of the most important ways on entertainment.

Nowadays if you ask a teenager when he has read last a book and what the book's title is, he won't know what to answer. Nobody reads any more, or if they do it is on the internet and only a summary so as not to get tired too much.
Television entertains you superficially as you don't gain too much by watching it. Yes, maybe a new pair of glasses for spending so much time in front of it. I don't say there are no educating programmes that worth being seen, that really help you, but their number is quite small.

So as not to get fat while lying on the sofa and turning yourself in a "counch potato ", you could instead go to a library, borrow a book and go to a park and start reading. You'll notice the difference. You'll think so well of you while doing more things at once: reading and enjoying yourself in the middle of nature.
Children should try to understand that television is benefic to our life till one point. If you cross the line and don't do anything else all day long you'll ruin your health and your education will be damaged too.

There are so many interesting things you can find out from books, starting on how to behave and ending with the culture, tradition, customs of other countries. Books are the eyes that allow you to travel all over the world, to conquest the territories of the unknown.

To sum up the best advice I could give to teenagers would be to give up television and take up a new hobby, like reading a book, which will never fail you and will always give you a helping hand when you need.
