The focus on “Eminem” more highlighted in 1999 when his first major studio album “The Slim Shady LP” was released.

The album achieved a huge success and became one of the most popular albums of 1999. And at this point of time he came to realize that his musical ambitions were the only way to escape his unhappy life.

The only thing that didn’t went in favor of Eminem was the controversy related to album’s lyrics. “97 Bonnie and Clyde” described his trip with his infant daughter, disposing of the body of his wife. “Guilty Conscience” ends with his encouraging a man to murder his wife and her lover. But theses controversies didn’t affected the bond of Eminem and Dr. Dre, who was the record producer for Eminem.

They b oth gave then some huge hits such as “Forgot about Dre” and “What’s the Difference” from Dr. Dre’s album 2001, “Say What You Say” from The Eminem Show, “Old Time’s Sake” and “Crack a Bottle” from Relapse and few others.

The album has been certified 4 times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It went on to sell 9 million copies worldwide.
Another big album under Eminem’s name is “The Marshall Mathers LP”. It was released in May 2000 and it went on to sell 1.76 million copies in its first week itself.

“The Real Slim Shady” which was a single from the album was a super success but it also created some sort of controversy as it comprised the insulting of celebrities. Other singles such as “The Way I am” and “Stan” also did well. Infact “Stan” was ranked 290th in Rolling Stone magazine “500 Greatest Songs of All Time” list.

This album has been credited diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It went on to sell 20 million copies worldwide.

Eminem has performed with Elton John at the 43rd Grammy Awards in 2001. Besides this he had also some music tours in 2001 which basically includes “Up in Smoke Tour” with rappers Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Xzibit and Ice Cube and “Family Values Tour” with Limp Bizkit.
