The end justifies the means

 Q:
The end justifies the meansby Cristina Nuta -

It was love at first time. She was the most beautiful and interesting girl he had ever met. He managed to make her fell in love with him, even if there were so many young men crazy about her. But still, they had a problem: she was very educated and rich, while he was a young boy, trying to make it through life.

But this happiness only lasted for a little time. He was going to go in war, but she promised to wait for him the necessary time. However, things cannot remain the same when time passes and a strong temptation appears. This was her case, too. She met a very rich man, the one who could offer her the comfort she had been used to all her life. She has forgotten about the poor young man to whom she had promised eternal love.

For him things proved to be very difficult. War ended and he found out the girl he had loved so much was married to a very rich man. He decided that he had to do everything to impress her, no matter the means. He was somehow obsessed with the idea to have her back and he kept on thinking that his dream, one day, would be fulfilled.

In order to manage to make his dream come true, he began to take part in different businesses, some of them being illegal. First of all, he sailed on a very important ship and was good friends with the captain, and saved the latter’s life one day. The day he died, the captain left him a great sum of money. With this he went for a while to Oxford, because he thought studying for a while to Oxford was a thing that would impress everybody. Then, he began to have illegal businesses with very strange people, and he even seemed to be implied in crimes. All these offered him great sums of money, which permitted him to have a very big mansion, just opposite the one in which lived the woman he still was obsessed with.

But his sacrifices were even larger: he began throwing parties in his mansion and invited people he did not even know, just to make people speak about him and impress her. And he managed to do it at the beginning, but sometimes not even all the money in the world, the comfort and the prestige can bring back the future. The mark that years and changes leave on people makes some dreams impossible, as in his case, too.

No...the end does not justifies the end. Not if it will be at the expense of hurting a another person along the way.

the end does justify the means but it was not worth all the trouble because if the girl loved him she would have accepted him the way he was.
