The European Union

Q:   Ask a Question about The European Union
The European Union by Herminne Tonita -

More and more people are talking about the phenomenon of the immigration in the European countries and not only. There are also many persons who choose to move to the United States or Australia. They are far away territories but the opportunities for making money are much more significant than on the old continent.

When the European Union was founded its purpose was the unification of the European countries in some domains like economy or tourism but with the keeping of the borders, of the language and of local customs and traditions. This lead to the acceptance of the euro by the majority of the European countries except Great Britain, which had the financial independence which allowed them to reject the euro.

You don't need a passport anymore, which is a goo d thing as you don't waste too mush time filling in useless documents. You also don't have to spend time waiting at the border because they don't have to check your luggage or whatever you are carrying in your car.

Furthermore the persons who want to work and to make money have the possibility t find a better place to work where they are also better paid.

Countries like Italy or Spain where there are large communities of Romanian living there for many years began to consider them as parts of their own and thus their civil rights are the same as those of the native inhabitants. There are many cases where Romanians commit illegal acts and that's why the general opinion about us is shared between full acceptance and total rejection of our nation.

We have had the possibility to change the perspective on how others perceive us through the students who studied in European universities, and who impressed their teachers, through football players, singers and actors. Our country is not all about gypsies, abandoned children and bad roads. It also about traditions and customs well rooted in the conscious of the people, about monuments and town of medieval style, about the Black Sea and the Carpathians.

We should all be very proud of our country and should try to make the others see its beauties and attractions.
