The Green Car

Q:   Ask a Question about The Green Car
The Green CarNo, not the color green, the eco-friendly version. With the discover of the damage that we are actually doing to the environment, the manufacturing industry has become more cognizant of emissions during the manufacturing process. Large contributors to these emissions are motor vehicles, trucks and the like.

Car manufacturers have focused on the advancement of eco-friendly cars in the form of hybrids, eco diesel and other processes that they are implementing. Essentially the hybrid utilizes both battery and fuel to generate power for the vehicle, and offer a fairly smooth and quiet ride. However, due to the new technology the hybrid is more generally more expensive than the traditional motor vehicle of the same sort of variety, and the selection of motor vehicle is still fairly limited.

Bio diesel is essentially a mixture of diesel with a vegetable oil, the benefits are that any diesel vehicle can use bio diesel, and vice versa – this is advantageous in that if you are not near a bio diesel filling station, one can use traditional diesel. Therefore the entire current range of diesel vehicles are to choose from, enabling one to purchase a vehicle that has marked less emissions than the traditional vehicles. The downfall of the bio diesel using vehicles is that they contribute to the smog, although emitting significantly less Carbon dioxide. The extreme cold weather may also negatively impact upon your choice of this vehicle as the fuel becomes more viscous in the cold weather.

There are other options available that contribute to less emissions, that include carpools, natural gas and electric cars. At least it is heartening to see that the oil companies, the motor vehicle manufacturers and the large corporations are at least making an effort to go as green as possible. Even we can contribute to this drive by making choices aligned to the green initiatives, and being more supportive of the ongoing campaigns. So if you have the opportunity to join a carpool, or even are considering recycling – make a move in the right direction and commit to ensuring that our habits won’t impact negatively on the lives of our descendants.
