Shimla, once the summer capital during the British raj in India is known for its picturesque locations and beautiful mountain ranges and it is one of the most visited hill stations in India.

Situated in the state of Himachal, Shimla is a perfect place to spend times in the vicinity of Mother Nature. It lies amidst lush green pine forests, ravines and fields and the snow capped summits. Some of the attractions of Shimla are as follows:

Mall road: This is the oldest road in Shimla which is the local market. It is situated overlooking the ridge. The market is made in such a way that people have to take elevators to go to the market. The view of sunset is breathtaking.

Christ church: This is one of the oldest churches in North India. It is beautifully designed and is lo cated on the back side of Mall road. It has painted glass windows and paintings which mark the Era of British rule in India.

Jakhu Temple: It is on Jakhu hills in Shimla. It is a Hanuman temple, a must visit for all who want to have an experience of spectacular view of valleys and mountains and the pine forests.

Kufri: It is at a distance of about an hour and a half from Shimla, one of the most beautiful places for snow sports.

It is best climbed on a horseback as the climb is very dangerous, slippery and steep. It is covered with snow, temperatures dropping down to around -2 degrees during snow fall.

Apart from these there are also Colonial houses, Tara Devi temple, summer hills, a few places around Shimla which are a must visit. Shimla is best when visited in the months of November to February.
