The phenomenon of the women who travel by themselves is not new, but the number of those who dared to take the chance was very small. Today, there are more and more adventurous personalities, who have become braver than the majority of men.
Starting with the 80s one could find in the famous travel leaflets, "Travel Guides" pieces of advice for women who travel alone. At first there were only English or Australian women who dared risking traveling alone but today more and more women of all nationalities try to prove the entire world that women do rule society nowadays.
It really doesn't matter if we walk about cheap voyages or luxurious well organized expeditions, women have decided to spend their money on voyages, and they don't need anyone to come with them.
Santiago Rey, the manager of the Spanish Agencies for Independent Voyages, says that women are more successful as they are more independent. Men are eager to pay huge amounts of money so that they could take part in these expeditions.
Laura Padilla, aged 28 says she feels alive walking alone in the streets, that she enjoys adventure and there could happen more interesting things traveling alone than accompanied by her friends. There are moments when you get to argue about the itinerary or about the places you want to visit. You have to adjust to others.
She likes talking to strangers and asking more about a place from people who actually live there.
The adventure of traveling alone is that you mingle with local inhabitants, you become a part of the place, of the atmosphere. When you are alone you have to listen more to your inner thoughts.
