There are many people who prefer both dogs and cats at home, if they really have enough space for pets. But I have always preferred dogs to cats from various reasons.
First of all, I like big pets and, therefore, I prefer a big dog rather than a little cat. Even if cats are considered to be nice and funny pets, with which you can play for long hours, I like more the dogs. But I have some preferences: I like breeds of big dogs and not little ones. For me they are stronger and they really offer me pleasure to go with them for a walk. And when somebody tries to abuse you while in the park or on the street, a big dog can represent a sure friend for you in such a moment. He can help you to scare that person a little, by only barking fiercely and showing their sharp fan
gs to the enemy. In such moments, a cat would run away or just jump into your arms, scared and without powerful arms to defend itself.
Secondly, I consider dogs are smarter than cats and that they are very protective and good friends if you treat them right. My neighbour's dog is very intelligent and he learns quickly what the family asks him to. He has been trained very rapidly and it now represents the defender of the house each time somebody rings the door's bell. The funniest moment is when my neighbour quarrels with her husband or children because Max, the dog, always comes and separates them as he feels that the spirits are high and he wants everybody to be calm. My neighbour also tells me how Max covers with a blanket Jimmy, her youngest son, while he is sleeping. Max enters Jimmy’s room, and with his paw he takes the blanket and covers the little boy.
Even if the owner of a dog has to clean more after a dog than after a cat, he will definitely feel the dog more loyal to him, the one which will jump on him when coming home. Cats don't care if you come home or not, but when you come home they'll take one look at you, and keep on walking.
