Wrestling - The Race For Titles

Q:   Ask a Question about Wrestling - The Race For Titles
Wrestling is an "insane" sport, competition and show. During the last two decades, wrestling became more and more popular among Americans. Now, major wrestling events are gathering thousands of spectators and can bring huge incomes (betting, tickets, sponsorship and commercials). Wrestling became way more than a simple sport. It is also a profitable business and an outstanding show. The wrestling fans know that the actual fight between two wrestlers is simulated but even so, more people are coming for each new event.

Now, let's take the wrestling from a new comer point of view. If you are watching for the first time a wrestling match you will probably notice that every single fighter has his own belt, proving that he won some title. If you compare that with boxing for example, you may find this situation a bit strange but the entire competition system in wrestling is different.

Winning a title is not easy but is not impossible either. However, because the final result for each match is known before the match starts, there is a system that helps every wrestler to win at least one title. Beside that, we have professional wrestlers with an outstanding collection of titles and belts. A proper example is Kurt Angle that won almost 15 major titles (without counting the common ones like WWE Champion). Another excellent example is Edge that has over 30 titles won in his career.

But how important these titles are? Well, I can say that a won title is a step forward in a wrestler career. Every top is based mainly on the number of won titles and competitions. It also counts a lot when is decided which wrestler is going to win a particular match. When a top wrestler faces a new one, spectators are supporting the professional wrestler and they are expecting a victory from him. Usually, that happens but there are some rare situations when the new fighter wins (usually with some help from "outside" the ring). If that happen, is a "ramp" for the new wrestler meaning that he is going to have a nice future in the world of wrestling.
