As he got off the train, he looked up and down the platform. There was no one there and he did know what to do. He decided to wait a little longer, thinking that perhaps his teacher was on his way to the station. After no more than half on hour of waiting there he decided to call him. But surprise: his phone was closed. He could not believe it. His Spanish teacher wasn’t there to wait for him and help him arrive to the flat he had hired.
'Why some people promise you something and then leave you in the lurch? I sent him an e-mail telling him the moment I was going to arrive here and if he could not be here he should have announced me.' I phoned him once more time, but in vain. I started thinking in order to find the best solution. But the strangest thing for me was
that I was surrounded by so many Spanish people and it was so unfamiliar to me listening to them speaking like that, even if I knew Spanish. But it was my first time in a foreign country and it seemed that I was having a terrible experience.
Then I remembered that I had the numbers of the persons who were the owners of the flat where I was going to live for a year, as an Erasmus student. But first I decided to find a taxi driver and ask him to take me to the address I was going to give him. But again I was very unlucky as the man looked at me curiously and told me that he did not know where that was, even if he believed it was very close to the station.
The next moment I phoned the owner of the flat and I told her that my teacher did not come and that the taxi driver could not help me. I was very lucky because the woman told me she was going to come in no more than ten minutes and that I had to stay calm because everything was going to be all right.
And she was true. She and her daughter came at the station very quickly and they were surprised to hear me speaking Spanish so good. They took me to the flat and after showing it to me and unpacking my luggage I could go to sleep after such a tumultuous day.
