Astrolabes enthusiast? Shadows is the perfect choice for you!

Q:   Ask a Question about Astrolabes enthusiast? Shadows is the perfect choice for you!
Astrolabes enthusiast? Shadows is the perfect choice for you! There arenít many applications as complex and interesting as Shadows. But Shadows is even more impressive if you think that it was developed by one single person. Creating something that complex involves a lot of work and dedication but that didnít stop Francois Blateyron in developing something as amazing as Shadows.

Shadows is one of the most powerful instruments to create and understand sundials and astrolabes I have ever seen. Usually such applications are extremely expensive but Francois Blateyron released his application in two versions: one free (for common users) and one more powerful (for those who are really interested in sundials and astrolabes).

Personally, I have tested only the free version but I find it extremely complex and interesting. There are so many options and possibilities that a common user will need days to use and understand all of them. This is a good thing because Shadows offers plenty of features, graphs and an impressive locations library which covers each ďcorner of the globeĒ.

For those who need a more practical approach, Shadows comes with an interesting module which allows you to calculate the exact angle and position for solar panels. Letís say you want to install some solar panels on your roof. Shadows can actually give you the exact angle and position where you should place those panels by analyzing the sun position on your area (remember Shadows covers the entire globe).

Is Shadows useful? Yes it is. Is Shadows affordable? Yes, it is (itís actually free). Do I recommend Shadows? I definitely do because itís a truly impressive application.
